As I mentioned in my bio, I am an activist in the anti-violence movement, specifically working with domestic and sexual violence victims. Currently, my job is to provide training and technical assistance to different agencies throughout Nevada. I really love what I do. It challenges me and uses the knowledge I have gained over twenty years.
However, the work we do isn’t in a silo. When someone is sitting in front of you, they are more than what happened to them. They have intersecting parts of their identity, including their race, socio-economic status, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, age, and perhaps mental health and substance use challenges.
Section of my site will talk a lot about working with persons who have experienced trauma. I hope you follow and join in on the conversation.
